More Than Enough
"And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus."
— Philippians 4:19
Today's Story
The Andersons were missionaries in rural Kenya during a drought year. Their food supplies ran dangerously low, and money for resupply had not arrived. They prayed together on a Wednesday evening and went to bed trusting. Thursday morning, a local farmer knocked on their door — a man they barely knew — carrying a large basket of maize and vegetables. 'I felt strongly to bring you this,' he said simply. He had no idea they were in need. Over the following week, three more unannounced gifts arrived — enough to sustain the family through the month. When the overdue funds finally arrived, they looked back at their prayer journal and marveled: God had met every need, often through people who had no knowledge of it.
Reflection
Philippians 4:19 is not a blank check for every want; it is a promise about every need. Paul writes from prison — a man who has experienced both abundance and scarcity (verse 12) — and he speaks from tested confidence, not theological theory. His God will meet needs 'according to his riches' — not out of His riches as though from a limited fund, but according to them, meaning in proportion to them. God's provision is scaled to His wealth, not ours. And His wealth is infinite. This does not mean God provides on our timeline or in the form we expect. Often He provides through unlikely channels — a stranger's generosity, an unexpected door, a quiet inner strength to keep going. But His promise stands: every genuine need, known to Him, is also met by Him.
Today's Prayer
Provider God, I bring You my needs today — the ones I can name and the ones only You can see. I release my grip on how You should provide and trust that Your riches in Christ are more than sufficient. Thank You for meeting me here. Amen.
