When Fear Knocks

The picture is of God's hand closing around ours — firm, present, preventing the fall. Fear is not forbidden. It is a natural human response to real danger. But God's word to us in fear is not 'stop being afraid' — it is 'I am here.' The antidote to fear is not courage summoned from within; it is presence received from without.
