He Sets the Boundary

He Sets the Boundary
"It was you who set all the boundaries of the earth; you made both summer and winter."
— Psalm 74:17
Today's Story
As summer ends and the angle of light begins to change, creation demonstrates one of its most visible patterns: seasons come and go by design, not by accident. The regularity of the seasons was one of the earliest evidences of divine faithfulness that ancient peoples observed — and the Bible ratifies it. After the Flood, God promised: 'As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease' (Genesis 8:22). The seasons are a covenant sign. Each transition from summer to fall is a small renewal of the promise that God is still governing the created order.
Reflection
Psalm 74 is written in the context of national calamity — the temple has been destroyed, the land overrun. In the midst of lament, the psalmist appeals to God's sovereignty over creation: He fixed the heavenly lights, He established the boundaries of the earth, He made summer and winter. The point is not that creation is orderly; it is that the One who orders creation has not abdicated His throne. If He still governs the seasons — and He does — He still governs the history. Whatever season of life you are in today, He set its boundaries. Summer and winter, joy and grief, flourishing and difficulty — all of it within the governance of the God who made them.
Today's Prayer
Lord, You set the boundaries of every season — in creation and in my life. As summer ends and a new season approaches, I trust Your governance. This season, like all others, is held by Your hands. Amen.
