About the Book
IntroTo encourage the post-exilic community by revealing God's heavenly perspective on their restoration - and to provide the richest OT deposit of messianic prophecy outside of Isaiah.
Zechariah's Visions and Messianic Prophecies
Ch. 1-14Eight night visions encourage the restored community; the book culminates in some of the most specific Messianic prophecies in the Old Testament — the humble king on a donkey, the thirty pieces of silver, the pierced one — and the final battle for Jerusalem.
Zechariah contains more Messianic prophecy than any other book in the Minor Prophets, with specific predictions of the Triumphal Entry, the betrayal price, and the crucifixion all fulfilled in the Gospels.
