Today's Reading
Psalms, Chapter 23
"The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing."
— Psalm 23:1
Fear is almost always rooted in a perception of scarcity — that we might not have enough, might not be enough, might not be protected enough. Psalm 23 demolishes that foundation in one sentence. A shepherd provides, guides, protects, and retrieves. If the Lord is your shepherd, then by definition you lack nothing essential. This does not mean you will have everything you want or face no hardship — the psalm describes walking through valleys and enemies nearby. But it means nothing critical will be missing: not guidance, not rest, not restoration, not protection, not a future. Fear says 'I am alone and unprovided for.' Faith in the Shepherd says 'I am under care that never sleeps.' Start your week here: what are you afraid of lacking? Name it. Then hold it against the promise of a Shepherd who has never lost a sheep.
Today's Prayer
Lord, You are my shepherd. Speak that truth into my fears today. I choose to trust that I lack nothing that You have not already provided for. Amen.
