Proverbs opens with its thesis: wisdom begins with the fear of the LORD. This fear is not terror but reverence — the posture of one who knows they are small before something infinitely larger and infinitely good. All knowledge, all skill, all competence is properly understood only from this foundation. Without it, even the most impressive cleverness is ultimately foolishness. The wise life begins by acknowledging who made it possible.
Today's Prayer
Lord, give me the reverence that is wisdom's beginning. Let every kind of knowledge I pursue be grounded in the knowledge of You. Amen.
