All Authority Has Been Given to Me

The Great Commission begins not with a command but with a declaration: all authority belongs to Jesus. This is the foundation of every missionary endeavor. We are not going as private individuals on a self-conceived project. We are going as ambassadors of the One to whom all authority belongs — in every nation, culture, government, and spiritual realm. The 'therefore' that follows is crucial: because of this authority, go. The command is rooted in the reality. You can share your faith without apology because you represent the highest authority in existence. And the command is 'make disciples' — not just converts or decisions. Discipleship is formation, relationship, ongoing investment. It is not a transaction but a life poured into another life over time, the way Jesus poured His into the Twelve.
